Manager Brian Kerr has warned Irish fans not to expect too much as he wants to experiment in friendly games.

Kerr is expected to give fringe players some action on Wednesday.

I dont usually bet much in friendly games but objectively I really like Brazil in this one. Brazilian coaches are known to take friendlies more seriously than other teams in that they pick first team players rather than 'fringe' players. Also, the Brazilian public ALWAYS wants results, even at friendlies.

The Republic will face a full-strength Brazil side including Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Roberto Carlos.

Coach Carlos Parreira said he would stick with his best line-up because the World Champions had so little time before next month's 2006 World Cup qualifier against Paraguay.

Brazil? come on Alex, you probably were in London when your team almost lost to Uruguay, that day was a scary day for Brazilian football. A game that you should have won easily. that tells you something about Brazilian football. This game is being played in Ireland, if the Brazil team loses, no one in Brazil is gonna know. if they are guarenteed to win, why arent they giving -0.75 or more?

Roque is no longer the player he was in 98. and Ze Roberto is the type of player that never plays well for Brazil. he should be on the list with Edmundo....

i will take Brazil if they bring on the real Legend Denilson.

Are you at the 2% level purely through volume traded (very impressive if yes) or are you getting a preferential rate to act as a market maker?

For those such as myself who are around about 3.5%-4% I have noticed that sporting options generally has the same numbers for soccer as betfair and the commision there begins at 3% but it is easy to get it down to 2.5%.

It may be considered a better option but the liquidity is less and you generally have to take the prices available as laying to be matched later often doesn't work.

What I totally forgot to mention is that I love A2345exxx write up! I am convinced that the majority of (smart) readers here not having read my reaction would go for it and have a bet on Brazil. It all sounds so convincing and confident. Does it not?

Because without getting into detail what A2345exxx has been posting is either irrelevant (80%) or even a complete lie (20%), but he will not have been aware of it. I do not doubt A2345exxx integrity one second! And guys like him do exactly what I want; attracting money on the team I oppose so much.

Can I make a deal with you and that is that you will start lying about certain teams being that good, while they are not? You simply post it on any gambling forum. I will have to start my own book and you will have to direct people to bet with me! Regarding the best price not surprising Indosoccer had them at 1.95, when Brazil could even still be laid on BetFair at 1.94. In fact Indosoccer tends to always have the best price on favourites. And this is what irritates me: Yesterday’s real winners were cvnts like Bet365! If all these smaller (gambling) books go out of business and all this money on Brazil goes to BetFair and/or Asian market, then the price on Ireland would have been even more attractive! Come on guys if you read A2345exxx post again, would you not even bet on Brazil being 1.5?

It's always kinda dangerous to load up on 'big plays' on meaningless friendlies and this match-up showed one of the reasons why.

0-0.

....if I was forced to pick a result before the kick-off, I would have gone for an 'X2' (draw and away win) that some bookies offered.

I'm glad I stayed the hell away though from Wednesday's bunch of international friendlies (most of my colleagues got their fingers burnt on the Portugal-England match-up!).

Watching the highlights, Brazil took most if not all of their chances from OUTSIDE the box!

....any shot they had inside the box, they shot straight at the 'keeper.

Ireland were terrible playing workmenlike football.

....Clinton Morrison did give a fantastic C-R-O-S-S* from the right side of the field over to Robbie Keane who missed the goal with a header by about two feet as his effort went over the bar.

Brazil didn't go out to win and Ireland couldn't win if they tried (and they did try).

Awful match to watch, only brightened up when the Irish were on the attack but Irish spectators seem to be OK about it being able to see the Brazilian men's national side close-up and in the flesh.

The truth is that on paper this sounded like a great game to bet on Brazil. Brazil playing with their starting 11 minus Rivaldo and a few sub players against an experimental Irish side (which was expressly stated by the coach) sounded truly great. But as we all know football is an unpredictable sport (in fact, i often have better luck with spread betting in basketball even know i know less than football) I believe that 7/10 times Brazil playing Ireland would win the game, 2/10 times a draw and Ireland would win 1/10.
I consider myself a decent bettor in that I dont bet blindly and i definetly don't lie to get my point ac****. I may be disproportionate in some of my views but thats probably due to human error more than anything.
What I should have stressed more in this write-up would have been to say that this is merely a friendly and it doesnt mean anything and the best result for both teams would have been a draw (I am a strong believer that a team should never win a friendly too easily as this may impact on them psychologically)...in fact, before the world cup i always hope Brazil at best draws their friendly games.
As for the price i'm stuck playing with British bookies since i dont have a credit card...i'll lose .02-0.05 here and there but in the long run it wont make a huge difference.

The closing price on Brazil at Macau was 2.00, but I take for granted you know that.
